Studies of Myocardial Aetomyosin and Myosin After Shock , Acute Hemorrhage , Acute Hypoxia , and Cardiopulmonary Bypass

چکیده
A DECREASE in cardiac efficiency is observed in dogs submitted to endotoxic shock, acute hemorrhage, and after heart-lung bypass. This may result from diminished coronary blood flow, tissue hypoxia, or lower oxygen tension of arterial blood in the cases of endotoxic shock and acute hemorrhage. The otiology of a shocklike syndrome following cardiopulmonary bypass has been studied by Brom and Nautal and has been attributed to metabolic alterations; however, the precise mechanism of decrease in the myocardial function is unknown. Since the myocardial mechanical efficiency greatly depends upon the various chemical activities which lead to muscular contraction,2 such as the energy conversion processes, physicochemical properties of the contractile proteins, or the coupling processes of the wave of excitation at the cell membrane with mechanical contraction of the myocardium,3 it seemed possible that interference with these processes at any point might lead to inefficiency of myocardial contraction. Specifically, since the energy utilization process within the myocardium is directly related to the physicochemical properties of cardiac contractile protein, and since the actomyosin-ATP (adenosinetriphosphate) system, together with

A comparison of laboratory findings in coronary artery bypass surgery with and without cardiopulmonary bypass
Background : Quests for doing coronary artery bypass surgery by a technique with lower complications is going on, for this aim many studies compared patients undergoing CABG with or without cardiopulmonary bypass. This study was carried out to compare laboratory findings after coronary artery bypass in these two groups of patients. Materials and Methods: In a retrospective study, 167 patients ...
متن کاملSpontaneous Rupture and Hemorrhage of Adrenal Pseudocyst Presenting With Acute Abdomen and Shock
Adrenal gland pseudocysts are not common conditions, and most of them are nonfunctional and asymptomatic. However, large pseudocysts may causes abdominal discomfort and have compressive effects on adjacent organs. They may rupture spontaneously or after trauma, and lead to retroperitoneal hemorrhage and surgical emergency. Herein, we report a case of 21-year-old female who presented with acute ...
متن کاملCardiac performance after deep hypothermic circulatory arrest in chronically cyanotic neonatal lambs.
OBJECTIVES It is controversial whether immature cyanotic hearts are more susceptible to ischemic injury than normoxemic hearts. Acutely induced alveolar hypoxic stress before cardiopulmonary bypass has been used as a model of cyanosis and is reported to worsen recovery of immature hearts after subsequent ischemic insult by means of a free radical injury mechanism. Because of concerns about the ...
متن کاملResults of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Support before Coronary Reperfusion in Cardiogenic Shock with Acute Myocardial Infarction
BACKGROUND Despite aggressive treatment, the mortality rate of cardiogenic shock with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is high. We performed extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) prior to coronary reperfusion, and evaluated the early clinical results and risk factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS From May 2006 to November 2009, we reviewed the medical records of 20 patients in cardiogenic shoc...
متن کاملCorrelation of intraoperative renal near infrared spectroscopy with the development of acute kidney injury in adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass
Introduction: The present study aimed to correlate renal oximetry near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) values with conventional non-invasive biomarkers for the early detection of acute kidney injury (AKI) in adult patients undergoing cardiac surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Accordingly, renal NIRS can be employed as a trending device for the prevention of AKI developmen...
